PMS, CRS or channel manager: where should you start?

Three different jobs, one hotel. Understand what each system does before deciding what to buy.

Start with the work that is getting lost

Think about the last problem your team had to solve. Was a rate wrong on a booking channel? Was a telephone reservation missing from the calendar? Or was reception waiting to find out whether a room had been cleaned? Those problems point to different products. A useful demo should show the exact task you need to improve, using a stay and a room type you recognise.

The channel manager handles distribution

A channel manager sends availability, rates and restrictions to connected booking channels and brings channel reservations into the booking workflow. In Revio, that is RevioLink. The important question is not just which channel logos appear on the page. Ask how room types and rate plans are mapped, how failed updates are shown and who checks that a change actually reached the channel. External delivery can take time or fail, even when your internal calendar is correct.

The CRS keeps reservations and performance together

A central reservation system gives the team a booking record to work from. RevioCRS supports availability searches, reservations, guest records and performance analytics. A phone booking should be recorded here as carefully as an online booking. When reviewing reports, ask which reservations count, which date range is used and how cancellations affect the figure. Pickup comparisons also need historical snapshots; software cannot reconstruct records that were never captured.

The PMS supports the physical stay

A property management system helps run reception, room assignment, housekeeping, guest folios and maintenance. That is RevioPMS. A practical test follows a guest from arrival to departure: assign the room, add a charge, check its balance and review readiness for the next guest. Include an out-of-order room in the demo so you can see what happens to availability.

Choose the combination, then check the connections

Revio products use shared internal records. When you add another Revio product, the existing rooms and rates are already part of its foundation. Keeping a system from another provider is a separate question: name the system and list the records that must move between them. Confirm the connection before assuming the products will work together. During the 30-day Revio trial, all three products are available without a card. Keep only the ones you use — pay for those alone.
